Single Mother Refuses to Tip on $140 Restaurant Bill

A server posted a photo of a receipt returned by a single mom who couldn't afford to give a tip on her $138 check.

Presuming this is real, most seem to share the sentiment that someone who cannot afford a tip should not be eating out at all--or if they are going to dine out, they should not be spending $138.

If this is a true story, I tend to agree.  I sympathize with the server, but there are a lot of people out there that don't realize that servers need their tips to make a living and that it's not just an extra treat on top of their base salary.  So maybe she didn't realize that skipping the tip was a huge deal.  Just sayin'.  I don't know.

Others think that receipt may be fake and circulated on the internet for attention.  And if that's the case, someone is using single mothers as an easy target.
