Lacking Direction? How About a Career in Forensic Arts?

Forensic artists are those people who draw sketches of suspected criminals based on the description of witnesses.

Lois Gibson is in the Guiness Book of World records as the most successful forensic artist of all time.  Her drawings have helped the Houston police solve 1,266 crimes.  There are only 26 forensic artists in the U.S.

She's good. Here's a sketch Gibson did of a kidnapper--the description given by the child's mother.

Lori Gibson says that many crimes could be solved if dermatologists worked more closely with law enforcement.  She could draw a scar or a mole and they could help determine if it likely came from a car accident, surgery, a burn or even how old it is.  This could provide an extra clue in catching a suspect.

"Picture you are the detective and you really want this guy.  You make an announcement in the newspaper and talk about a unique thing -- one scar in a certain place. The news people will write or talk and dwell on that item even more......Maybe that's the thing that pushed you into calling the police." says Gibson
